Abishek Kumar

Abishek Kumar who gained widespread recognition with his online alter ego, ‘Mrs. Janaki’ is popularly known as Becky, and is one of Chennai’s most popular stand-up comedians. He is renowned for his high-energy performances and clean, family-friendly content. Abishek has entertained audiences in over 100 stand-up shows. A regular performer on OTT platforms, Abishek has appeared on Amazon Prime Video's ‘Comicstaan Semma Comedy Pa’ and ‘LOL: Enga Siri Paappom’. 

An engineering graduate from VIT University and former president of the college's dramatics club, Abishek, like many of his peers, chose a path outside of engineering. His material often includes observational comedy, current topics, and energetic act-outs, keeping his audience thoroughly engaged.

His journey into comedy began when he was called upon to replace a comedian who couldn't make it to a show, giving him an unexpected yet significant 15-minute spot. This impromptu performance marked the start of his successful comedy career.

In addition to his stand-up comedy talent, Abishek has also acted in web series, such as ‘Livin’ and ‘Cookies’. He has had the honor of opening for prominent comedians like Arvind SA, KK, Praveen Kumar, Naveen Richard, Azeem Bannatwala, Sonali Thakker, and Abish Mathew. Abishek is also a professional theatre artist and has performed in numerous professional plays, TV commercials, and web series. He also made a cameo appearance in the Harish Kalyan-starrer ‘Oh Manapenne!’ (2021). 

Abishek's comedic style is heavily influenced by his passion for acting, incorporating expressive body language, voice modulation, and vibrant act-outs into his routines. His sharp wit, impeccable timing, and strategic placement of jokes make him a sought-after comedian in South.
